Course Syllabus

Item Content
Course Description This class will cover theoretical development and empirical findings related to cognitive processing and the associated neural correlates. Class format will be in the form discussions on this recent years' research papers. Each week, we will discuss one (or two) papers and cover a maximum of 16 papers over the semester, pending course participation numbers. Each student will take turns to facilitate discussion by introducing and summarizing the key points of assigned papers. A proposed bibliography of papers will be listed in the designated reading list below from which we will select for each week's discussion. Students may also suggest their own papers of interest for discussion. Grading: Students will be graded on their overall weekly level of participation in the paper presentations and discussion. This includes active critiquing, contribution of ideas and critical arguments, and expressions of frank opinions.
Course Objective 1) To provide basic background into the field of cognitive neuroscience. 2) To gain an understanding of current research findings, methodologies, and trends in the field. 3) To train readings skills for research articles.
